Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!!
The Buddy Poppy Program has helped the VFW live up to its motto, "to honor the dead by helping the living." The Buddy Poppy - small red flower, symbolic of the blood shed in World War I, by millions of Allied soldiers in defense of freedom.
The term "Blue Star" is used as a reference to having a family member in active military service, while the term "Gold Star" refers to the loss of a family member in military service.

Healthy Habits to Prevent the Flu
Here are a few steps to protect yourself from the flu:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
- Wash your hands often. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs are often spread when you touch something that is contaminated and then touch your eyes, nose, or mouth.
