Alex DiGiacomo
Quartermaster - Marines

Alex has been a member of our Post for 11 years.  He has held the positions of Jr. Vice, Sr. Vice,  Commander, and now Quartermaster. Alex served in the Marine Corps, from Sept. 1963 to Sept. 1967.  After Boot Camp, Alex was stationed at the Marine Barracks, Wash. DC; then in April, '64, to Camp Lejeune, NC, with Echo Company, 2nd. Bat. 2nd. Mar. Reg., 2nd. Mar. Div., as an M60 Machine Gun Squad Leader; then in Dec. '65, to Camp Pendleton, CA, to the  Staging Battalion, before going to Vietnam.  Alex arrived in Vietnam in early Mar. '66, joined Mike Company, 3rd. Bat, 1st. Mar. Reg., 1st. Mar. Div., as a Machine Gun Team Leader, in Chu Lai & DaNang; in June '66, Alex was transferred to Fox Co., 2nd. Bat., 1st. Mar. Reg., 1st. Mar. Div., up to Dong Ha (DMZ), as a Rifle Squad Leader. In Sept. '66, after Operation Hastings, F/2/1 moved down to the DaNang area, until Jan. '67.  F/2/1 was then relocated to Nui Loc Son (Hill 185), in the Qua Son Valley, as a reinforced Company or Mini Bat. to seek out the 2nd. NVA Division.  During this time, Alex held the positions of Plt. Guide, Plt. Sgt., Plt. Cmdr, and finally back to Plt. Sgt. After his tour was completed, Alex was assigned to Camp Pendleton, CA., where he was a Weapons Instructor assigned to train Navy personal, preparing to go to Vietnam, with the various weapons they may possibly have to use.
